Below I have copied and pasted the main body of the email sent.
Hello, i'm a university student in my second year of a BA(HONS) photography degree at the university of Salford.
I am doing an editorial project based around dogs homes. I was wondering if you could supply me with any information which will be of use in my research statement, rationale and evaluation.
Although (much to my disappointment) I am unable to photograph in your shelters due to them being a considerable distance from me. I have visited many shelters in the north west photographing there.
I am interested in Breeds which are most frequent residents and how that changes in relation to dogs which are popular at any given time and also why.
I am also interested to know if age and sex has any implication on the dogs likeliness to be re-homed.
I know you can't speak on behalf of all of the shelters but any information would be greatly appreciated.
On average how many dogs do you take in per day/week/year does this rocket or do you see a surge at any particular times of the year.
In terms of re-homing, what is the most common age/social status/sex of the people who rescue dogs. Do any breeds closely link with any certain age/sex/social backgrounds.
How long is an animal typically kept at one site before being moved to another? Do they ever get put to sleep as a result of not being suitable for re-homing or being unsuccessful in finding someone willing to adopt them?
How much does it cost to keep 1 dog in a shelter per day?
How do you respond when an illegal breed comes into your care?
Typically how many members of staff would you expect to require per any given amount of animals the site houses?
I am aware there are a lot of questions there, I understand you may not be able to answer them all directly but I just wanted to outline some of my key interests.
Thanks in advance.
